The National Testing Agency (NTA) will engage the Indian Air Force (IAF) to transport NEET question papers for the national medical entrance examination scheduled to be held on June 21, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said on Saturday.
Singh made the announcement while virtually attending a meeting chaired by Telangana Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao to review arrangements for the examination.
According to a state government release, Singh said enhanced security protocols are being implemented for the examination. He said that, for the first time, the Indian Air Force is being engaged to transport question papers, reflecting the importance being accorded to maintaining the integrity and security of the examination process.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary Rao directed officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examination. He asked district authorities to work in close coordination with all concerned departments and ensure that candidates are provided a hassle-free environment on the examination day.
State Principal Secretary (Health) Christina Z Chongthu said around 73,000 students are expected to appear for the NEET examination across 208 examination centres in 24 cities in Telangana.
She said authorities are making necessary arrangements related to infrastructure, transportation, security, power supply, drinking water and other essential facilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
State Director General (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat stressed the need for close coordination between the police department and district administration. He directed police officials to put in place comprehensive security arrangements at all examination centres and maintain constant vigil.
Bhagwat also cautioned officials against rumour mongering and misinformation. He advised them to actively monitor and utilise social media platforms to promptly address any false information that could affect the conduct of the examination.
