The Nora Hotel Opens With 201 Rooms in West Palm Beach District
The Nora Hotel opened on 19 October 2026 in West Palm Beach’s developing Nora District, bringing 201 guest rooms, including 14 suites, and Florida’s first Sisley Spa Paris to 1135 North Railroad Avenue, according to the South Florida Business Journal.
The opening introduces a luxury hotel to a former railway warehouse area north of downtown West Palm Beach. The property combines accommodation, restaurants and wellness facilities within a neighbourhood undergoing commercial redevelopment.
New York Hotel Group Expands Into West Palm Beach
The property marks the first ground-up hotel development outside New York City for BD Hotels, the hospitality group associated with Hotel Chelsea, The Bowery Hotel and The Mercer.
Hotelier Sean MacPherson leads the project alongside BD Hotels partners Richard Born and Ira Drukier. The development also involves NDT Development, Place Projects and Wheelock Street Capital, according to AFAR, which reported on the opening on 20 October.
MacPherson told AFAR that his familiarity with the area helped influence the investment. He had previously spent several months in the region and developed an interest in its Mediterranean-style architecture and surrounding communities.
Explaining the city’s appeal, MacPherson said: “West Palm still feels like an adolescent. Itβs a little bit unclearβin a good wayβ precisely how itβs going to grow, but itβs definitely going to grow.”
The hotel belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World, placing the independent property within an international collection of luxury accommodation.
Restaurants, Rooftop Facilities and Sisley Spa
The hotel’s dining facilities include Pastis, a 13,000-square-foot Parisian brasserie associated with Starr Restaurants. The restaurant brings the established New York dining concept to West Palm Beach, alongside Jack’s Bar in the hotel lobby.
Mama Hospitality operates Lilly’s, a rooftop concept incorporating poolside facilities, dining and lounge areas. The hospitality offering is intended to serve both overnight guests and visitors to the surrounding district.
The property also introduces Florida’s first Sisley Spa Paris, adding a luxury wellness facility to the city’s hotel market. Its amenities include treatment spaces and relaxation facilities.
Architecturally, the hotel draws on the Mediterranean Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival styles associated with Palm Beach. Its exterior features arches and traditional roofing details, while interiors combine warm colours, vintage furnishings and design elements associated with the operator’s New York properties.
These facilities distinguish the new hotel from conventional accommodation developments by combining guest rooms with several food, drink and wellness operations at the same address.
Nora District Redevelopment Creates New Hospitality Hub
The hotel forms part of the 40-acre Nora District, a redevelopment area built around former railway warehouses along North Railroad Avenue.
The neighbourhood’s commercial offering includes restaurants, independent shops and hospitality businesses. Its development creates a walkable destination where hotel guests can visit nearby establishments without travelling to Palm Beach Island.
The district also includes dining and retail names familiar to visitors from New York, including H&H Bagels and Van Leeuwen. Their presence connects the hotel opening with a wider effort to attract businesses to the area.
Rather than operating as an isolated resort, The Nora Hotel sits within this developing commercial neighbourhood, linking its restaurants and public spaces with surrounding shops and dining venues.
New Hotels Expand West Palm Beach’s Luxury Options
The opening follows other hospitality investments away from the traditional oceanfront resort market.
The 150-room Belgrove Resort & Spa opened along Lake Mangonia in December 2024 under Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, according to Florida YIMBY.
Developed by Access Real Estate and Witkoff, the six-storey property combines British Caribbean-inspired design with resort facilities and access arrangements involving the Jack Nicklaus-designed Dutchman’s Pipe Golf Club.
Florida YIMBY also reported plans for 22 additional villas, illustrating the scope of the property’s development beyond its original guest accommodation.
These inland hotel projects offer a different setting from established Palm Beach Island properties such as The Breakers, whose accommodation and private beachfront facilities have long attracted luxury travellers.
The distinction is primarily geographical and experiential. The Nora emphasises restaurants and pedestrian access within an emerging urban district, while The Belgrove focuses on a lakeside resort setting.
For West Palm Beach, the latest opening adds another established hospitality operator to the local market while providing a major commercial anchor for the developing Nora neighbourhood.
