Chiefs Beat Jets 35-12 as Geno Smith Frustration Boils Over

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New York Jets 35-12 at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, November 8, 2026, behind three touchdowns from Kenneth Walker III and a second-half defensive shutout. The victory ended Kansas City’s two-game losing streak and extended New York’s skid to four games.

The Chiefs improved to 5-2, while the Jets fell to 2-7. Kansas City held New York to minus-9 yards in the third quarter.

Chris Jones and George Karlaftis recorded two sacks apiece as the Chiefs shut out the Jets in the second half.

New York’s opening possession lasted more than eight minutes and reached the Kansas City 5-yard line before Steve Spagnuolo’s defense forced a field goal. Jason Sanders ultimately accounted for all 12 Jets points, converting four field goals, including a 54-yard attempt in the second quarter.

Geno Smith’s Sideline Frustration

Quarterback Geno Smith endured five sacks as the Jets struggled to move the ball after halftime. New York was also missing receiver Garrett Wilson, who was in concussion protocol, reducing Smith’s available receiving options.

After stumbling and falling while scrambling on a failed drive, Smith threw his helmet against the bench and shouted on the Jets’ sideline.

The Jets remained within two points at 14-12 late in the second quarter. Sanders subsequently missed a 53-yard field goal, while Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker also missed from 51 yards before halftime.

Walker Powers Chiefs Offense

Patrick Mahomes completed 23 of 31 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Kenneth Walker III scored twice on receptions and added a 2-yard touchdown run.

Walker’s rushing score came with 11 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Travis Kelce also contributed an unusual 1-yard rushing touchdown on fourth-and-1 earlier in the period.

Reserve running back Emmett Johnson completed the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run with 3:35 remaining in the fourth quarter.

New York’s defense had earlier disrupted Kansas City’s passing game. Rookie edge rusher David Bailey finished with two sacks and three tackles for loss.

Demario Davis and Will McDonald IV also recovered fumbles following strip-sacks.

Injuries Complicate Chiefs’ Next Matchup

The Chiefs also lost right tackle Jaylon Moore to an ankle injury, while Mahomes continued playing after experiencing elbow pain following David Bailey’s strip-sack. Mahomes did not miss an offensive snap.

Wide receiver Xavier Worthy left late in the fourth quarter with a non-contact leg injury and went to the locker room. The severity of the injury was not established.

Kansas City next faces the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10, while New York returns to MetLife Stadium to face the Buffalo Bills.

Kansas City’s injury concerns involve Mahomes’ throwing elbow, Worthy’s leg and Moore’s ankle, with their availability for the Atlanta matchup not yet established.
