CASPER, Wyo. β As the Aug. 18 primary election approaches, Oil City News is introducing candidate questionnaires to help voters make informed decisions at the ballot box.
Every candidate in the primary field was sent the same three questions and given a limit of 500 words, which could be distributed among their answers as they saw fit. To ensure a fair and direct line to the community, all responses are published exactly as submitted, without edits or alterations.
Candidates were asked:
What are the most crucial challenges your constituents are facing?
If elected, how will you address these challenges?
What qualities or qualifications do you possess that have prepared you to meet these challenges?
Questionnaires are being published on a rolling basis online through Aug. 11. They will be accessible via the Oil City News Election Tracker.
Additionally, Oil City News will mail a comprehensive print voters guide directly to all Natrona County households in mid-July, featuring all questionnaires received by July 6.
Wyoming faces several challenges, which are all entangled: shrinking populations, increased cost of living, lack of affordable and accessible healthcare, lack of affordable and accessible housing, workforce shortages, and lack of economic development, to name a few. Primary concerns I hear from constituents are healthcare costs and access, the lack of job and career opportunities for youth and young families, rising costs of living without comparable increases in wages, and strains on local services due to reductions in tax revenue.
Wyoming has a very unique landscape with its vast spaces and limited populations; these factors create unique opportunities for public-private partnerships. Wyoming is also positioned to significantly diversify our economy and improve overall economic growth. To do so, we need leadership willing to embrace change, say yes to new business, and establish policies that best protect and promote Wyomingβs best interests. I will continue working to understand the complexities of these issues, building relationships, creating opportunities for public-private collaboration, and focusing on solutions that address Wyomingβs challenges.
What qualities/qualifications do you possess that have prepared you to meet these challenges?
I was appointed to the Governorβs Wyoming Wildlife Task Force in 2020 and was fortunate to work with Legislators, Commissioners, Landowners, Outfitters, Sportsman, Anglers, and Wyoming Game & Fish. Focused on top-priority wildlife policy issues, I learned the importance of understanding issues from a variety of perspectives, leaning on experts for guidance, and the critical importance of engaging those impacted by the decisions made. Since being elected in 2024, I have built a reputation as a legislator who listens, works hard, is an effective policymaker, and maintains transparent communication. Whether meeting with constituents, testifying in committees, or working on citizen-driven legislation, I focus on practical solutions that benefit Wyoming.
Future Outlook
The legislative session following the 2026 election cycle will likely center on structural tax revenue adjustments and rural healthcare infrastructure. Lawmakers must balance municipal service strains against volatile energy sector revenues while developing long-term frameworks to retain younger working-class families within the state.
