Shortly after US-returned Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke held a massive protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and gave an ultimatum to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to resign over NEET paper leak, BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday said that the youth of the country will not move as βpuppetsβ in the hands of people sitting abroad.
Speaking at the βIntellectuals Meetβ in Ranchi, the BJP chief said, βSome people, sitting abroad, think that they will dictate the direction to Indiaβs youth. But Indiaβs youth will not move forward as puppets in the hands of a few people.β
He further stated that his party will not allow the democracy of the country to be destroyed.
βTo those who want to drag this countryβs youth into negative politics, I warn them that Indiaβs youth will engage in positive politics. We will oppose on the basis of democracy, but we will not allow the standards of democracy to be destroyed,β he added.
His remarks, seen as an apparent reference to the Cockroach Janata Partyβs protest against Pradhan over the issue of NEET paper leak, came just hours after the satirical outfitβs founder warned of nation-wide protests if the minister doesnβt resign.
Addressing the large gathering of his supporters, alongside renowned scientist and social activist Sonam Wangchuk, Dipke declared that the CJP will hit the streets across India to demand the resignation of Pradhan.
He gave the minister an ultimatum to resign till 5 pm but there was no direct response from either the minister or the government.
Dipke also announced another major agitation on June 13 at the same venue, urging his supporters to join in large numbers.
After ending the protest, he thanked CJP supporters for participating in the agitation, adding that todayβs protest was just a βtrailerβ.
CJP Jantar Mantar Protest
The BJP chief targeted Dipke during an interaction with intellectuals in Ranchi, asserting that certain forces are attempting to make the country’s youth anti-establishment. Nabin emphasized that modern youth want to focus on nation-building and securing their future within democratic norms rather than engaging in negative political movements.
Meanwhile, the CJP concluded its first-ever physical demonstration in the national capital, drawing hundreds of young protesters. The organization shifted its strategy by transforming a virtual online movement into an on-ground mobilization, marking a significant milestone for the newly formed satirical outfit.
What Are Major Takeways From Protest
Following the peaceful conclusion of the Jantar Mantar demonstration, CJP spokespersons held a press conference to issue a fresh 7-day deadline. The group announced they will wait one week for the Centre to sack Pradhan or for his voluntary resignation, failing which they will trigger countrywide protests.
During the demonstration, hundreds of youth wore cockroach masks and carried posters highlighting systemic lapses in national competitive examinations. Security personnel monitored the venue heavily as protesters chanted slogans demanding an end to divisive communal politics and expressed patriotic solidarity.
Dipke Returns From The US For The Protest
Dipke arrived in Delhi from the United States on Saturday morning to lead the demonstration personally. He exited the airport carrying a copy of BR Ambedkar’s autobiography before heading directly to Jantar Mantar after obtaining official clearance from the Delhi Police.
Sonam Wangchuk Joins Protest
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the demonstration, expressing admiration for the creative and peaceful nature of the youth-led protest. Other prominent political figures, including CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya and CPI’s Annie Raja, also attended to support the students.
Six People Detained During Protest
Delhi Police officials confirmed that six individuals were detained during the agitation as a precautionary measure. The law enforcement agency acted on intelligence inputs regarding potential friction between supporters and opponents of the movement to maintain public order.
What Delhi Police Said On FIR Rumours
The Delhi Police issued a formal clarification dismissing social media reports that an FIR had been lodged against the Jantar Mantar demonstrators. Authorities urged the public to ignore unverified digital rumors and rely solely on official police communications.
How Did The Cockroach Janta Party Come To Existence?
The CJP was initiated by Dipke following public outrage over a controversial remark made on May 15 by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The group later clarified the judicial commentary targeted individuals holding fraudulent legal degrees rather than unemployed youth.
Future Outlook
The standoff introduces a fresh wave of student-led political activism, challenging the government’s management of national testing frameworks. As the CJP’s 7-day deadline ticks down, the political focus shifts to whether the Ministry of Education will initiate structural reforms or face an escalation of nationwide demonstrations on June 13.
