Amazon MGM Studios Plans Final James Bond Screen Tests

Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly preparing to screen-test actors for the next James Bond in London as early as Friday, October 23, 2026. Callum Turner and Jack Lowden are among the leading candidates, according to entertainment trade reports.

The Hollywood Reporter puts the possible testing group at between three and five actors. Deadline-attributed reporting says at least four actors have been offered auditions, including Turner, 36, Scottish actor Lowden, 36, and Josh O’Connor, 36, whose credits include The Crown and Challengers.

None has been officially announced as the next Bond.

Auditions will assess stunt work, camera presence and dialogue, according to details describing the upcoming screen tests.

The feature film is set to be helmed by director Denis Villeneuve from a script by Steven Knight, following an ongoing effort to replace Daniel Craig after his exit from the franchise in 2021.

Jacob Elordi is reportedly not participating in the upcoming screen tests. Jack O’Connell has also been described as absent from the current round, although accounts of his status conflict, keeping an unnamed mystery candidate in the potential selection pool.

Turner addressed speculation surrounding the franchise earlier this year during the Berlin International Film Festival, stating on record: “It’s very early for that question. I’m not going to comment on it.” Lowden’s spouse, actress Saoirse Ronan, recently responded to the mounting trade rumors by observing that it is: “not really a subject that’s coming up in our house.”

Public feedback reveals strong audience interest toward Lowden due to his past work in espionage television, while historical commentary highlights the significant commercial pressures involved in maintaining the box office performance of the franchise.

Additional tracking confirms that the identity of the final mystery actor continues to remain hidden from public disclosures.
