Bitcoin ETFs Gain $528 Million as Ether Funds Face October Withdrawals
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted a reported 528.41 million dollars in net inflows on October 21, 2026, while spot Ethereum funds remained under pressure after more than 1.07 billion dollars in October net withdrawals, according to fund flow figures compiled by SoSoValue and cited by market trackers.
BlackRock portfolios experience internal flow disparity
According to SoSoValue figures cited by CoinDesk, BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) recorded 665.2 million dollars in net inflows on October 19, offsetting withdrawals from competing Bitcoin funds.
On that same day, Fidelity’s FBTC lost 83.6 million dollars and Grayscale’s GBTC lost 54.9 million dollars, showing an appetite concentrated within specific market products.
During that exact same trading session, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs lost 103.3 million dollars globally. BlackRock’s own iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) accounted for 95.4 million dollars of those withdrawals, exposing an internal product net flow difference of 760.6 million dollars across the asset manager’s two flagship cryptocurrency tracking vehicles.
Ethereum ETF Staking Options Complicate the Comparison
BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) does not stake its ether holdings to generate rewards. However, investors can obtain staking exposure through other listed products, including BlackRock’s iShares Staked Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHB), launched in February 2026.
The availability of staking enabled cryptocurrency funds means the recent difference in Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF flows cannot be attributed to a blanket regulatory prohibition on staking.
Identifying investors’ reasons for reallocating capital would require additional evidence, such as fund manager commentary or institutional allocation data.
What to Watch Next
