Kakinada: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Kakinada Municipal Corporation of completely failing to control the stray dog menace in the city, following an incident in which four persons, including children and women, were injured in an attack by a rabid dog in Sambamurthy Nagarβs Thota Ammavari Street on June 26, 2026.
A BJP delegation led by district president Bikkina Visweswara Rao, Civil Supplies Corporation Director Enimireddy Malakondayya, and senior leader Duvvuri Subrahmanyam submitted a complaint to District Collector and Municipal Special Officer.
The BJP leaders said the municipal authorities were ignoring Supreme Court directives to prevent stray dogs from roaming on the streets and to establish permanent shelters for dogs with adequate food and water facilities.
