Roseanne Barr Challenges Hollywood for Another Shot With New Sitcom

Eight years after she was fired from the hit reboot of ‘Roseanne’, Roseanne Barr seeks a second chance. The 73-year-old has self-financed a new sitcom, ‘Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable’, and is shopping it to networks, Fox News reported.

Shopping ‘Meemaw’

Barr told The Hollywood Reporter this week that she is shopping the sitcom to “Anybody who wants a number one show and is smart enough to take a number one show.”, Fox News reported.

“I don’t know why they don’t want a number one show and why they hate a number one show and why they would destroy a number one show,” she said of Hollywood. “But if they do want a number one show, I got it.”, Fox News reported.

The 2018 firing

The ‘Roseanne’ reboot was a huge hit with tens of millions of viewers each week, finishing its first season as the number one primetime sitcom in the 18-49 demographic, Fox News reported, citing Variety.

ABC fired Barr and cancelled the show in 2018 after she posted a racist remark about Valerie Jarrett on social media. The network later launched the spin-off ‘The Conners’ without her, Fox News reported.
