EmmaBelle’s Prepares Carnegie Hill Health Food Shop

Upper East Side sisters Emma and Lyla Belle are preparing to open EmmaBelle’s, a boutique grocery and café at 1265 Madison Avenue in Carnegie Hill. The storefront is undergoing interior renovations, and the founders have not announced an opening date.

The independent health food shop will occupy a location between East 90th and East 91st Streets in Manhattan’s Upper East Side neighborhood. Its planned offerings include specialty groceries, chef-made frozen meals and café service.

The founders say their product standards exclude artificial dyes, numbered preservatives and ingredients they consider difficult to recognize. These restrictions reflect the company’s stated purchasing philosophy rather than independently verified product certifications.

Sisters Inspired by Family Experience

EmmaBelle’s was founded by Emma Belle, a former public defender, and Lyla Belle, a professional model. Both sisters were born and raised on the Upper East Side, giving the planned business a personal connection to its Carnegie Hill location.

The sisters developed their retail concept after their mother’s experience with an autoimmune disease. Dietary changes emphasizing clean eating accompanied her subsequent remission, inspiring the founders to consider how food choices could shape their own business.

The family associates their mother’s remission with dietary changes, although that personal experience does not establish a clinically proven causal relationship. The founders’ motivation is therefore a personal account rather than evidence that their proposed products can treat medical conditions.

The business describes its founding philosophy through the phrase “inspired by healing, powered by food, rooted in love.”

Specialty Groceries and Dietary Options

EmmaBelle’s will carry products intended for customers seeking vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and refined-sugar-free options. These dietary categories form part of the shop’s proposed specialty grocery selection.

Its inventory policy also emphasizes avoiding certain additives. The company’s stated standard includes “zero chemicals, no artificial dyes, no numbered preservatives, and no unpronounceable ingredients.”

The phrase “zero chemicals” is the company’s own description of its sourcing philosophy, not a scientifically established property of food products. The founders’ dietary standards represent their stated purchasing philosophy, not a medical endorsement of the products they intend to sell.

Chef-made frozen meals are another planned offering, allowing customers to purchase prepared dishes alongside specialty groceries. These meals would expand the shop’s proposed selection beyond packaged pantry provisions.

The café will complement the grocery operation, creating a combined food retail and dining concept rather than a conventional packaged-goods shop.

Storefront Preparations and Local Hiring

EmmaBelle’s remains in its pre-opening stage, with commercial renovation work underway at the Madison Avenue property. The company has established a website and public communications channels, but its physical grocery and café operations have not been confirmed as open to customers.

The founders have opened employment inquiries to prospective local applicants as preparations for the storefront continue. The company has not disclosed specific positions, staffing numbers or compensation details.

In a September 30, 2026 Instagram statement, the founders expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming opening, saying, “We can’t wait to see you guys.”

A later public merchant posting on November 5, 2026 stated, “Something VERY exciting is coming to the Upper East Side..stay tuned.”

Online Presence and Opening Plans

The business maintains an official website and public communications channels for updates about its planned opening.

The founders have not announced regular operating hours.
